In Old Town Alexandria there is a lovely shop called The Hour.
The hour it centers around is "cocktail hour".
The shop is a collection of vintage and modern cocktail ware.
Such a neat shop!

Day 58: February 27, 2010

Yes, I took this picture today. February 27.
Someone is just now taking their Christmas tree down?
Then I thought it may have been buried under the snow.
But even so, the snow didn't come until February 5.
Still too late to take a Christmas tree down. In my opinion.

To me, nothing could be finer than:
Friday afternoon, orangeish chairs, wasabi peas, a couple glasses of wine,
and most importantly a wonderful time with a superb person.

I love getting a hair cut.
I love the hair wash.
I love someone else drying my hair.
I love the feeling of a fresh, new look.
I love walking out and other stylists complimenting my hair.
It makes me feel pampered and renewed....until it's my turn to do my hair!

I was surprised today with a fabulous gift from a fabulous person! This is a phenomenal collection of the Chester Dale collection at the National Gallery of Art. Some paintings represented in this book are by glorious French painters, such as, Vincent Van Gogh, Henri Rousseau, Pablo Picasso, Diego Rivera, Claude Monet, among many others! Thank you!

As I write this, I have a ThermaCare Heat Wrap around my neck. Why? Well, for almost two weeks, I've had a sinus infection and bronchitis. This has been accompanied by a lovely cough. I have a strained muscle in my neck from coughing. Ouch!

A couple of days after my trek to The National Mall, I made another trek. This time to Bethesda, MD to Georgetown Cupcake with my friend, K. A mere 3.2 miles compared to the closer to 5 miles a few days before, I thought it would be a nice stroll. Little did we know that the sidewalks on route had barely been shoveled after the 2-3 feet of snow had fallen. We did not walk back to DC, thanks to K's hubby, but on the way home, we passed NBC4's Pat Collins. During the snow storm, he had been stationed in the same location interviewing passerbys, some of whom brought him treats. When I saw him standing on the sidewalk at the intersection of Connecticut Ave. and Fessenden St., I wanted to tell him how unhappy I was of the conditions of the sidewalks in the Chevy Chase area of Montgomery County, MD. I then thought I'd have a better chance of chatting with him if I gave him one of my 4 cupcakes from G'town Cupcake. So I carefully chose a cupcake (one that I would be the okay to not eat!) and approached Pat Collins. I gave him the cupcake, explained my trek, and he then asked his cameraman to set up the camera. Later that evening, on the 6:00 news, there was my cupcake! Then there I was, chatting with Pat Collins for my 15 seconds of fame!

Today is my long-time friend Kim's birthday!
We've been friends since 6th grade. We live a long way away from each other,
but when we see each other.....watch out! Happy birthday, Kim!
